Sipoo to growth, to become a vibrant and well-known municipality, where it is an excellent place to live, work and do business!
Sipoo is my home municipality – and it’s future matters to me
There is much to be done. But progress only comes through action. Let us make decisions together — one good decision at a time.
Let us take care of Sipoo. In the Right Direction™
During the 2025–2029 council term, I serve as Chair of the Technical Committee and as a board member of Asunto Oy Sipoon Tiltaltti. The composition of the Technical Committee can be found here: https://www.sipoo.fi/palvelu/tekninen-valiokunta/
Below are 17 key priorities for Sipoo — areas where municipal-level decisions truly matter.
These are commitments I stand behind.
1. Security
- A safe living environment. Vandalism, disruptive behavior and crime must be addressed with a low threshold.
- Continuous development and updating of municipal crisis preparedness.
- Annual review of emergency shelters and crisis readiness.
- Effective crisis management and communication.
2. Daycare and Schools
- Safe and functional daycare centers and schools — both small village schools and larger urban schools.
- Strong support for vibrant village schools.
- Learning and teaching peace must be guaranteed.
- Clear rules for mobile device use in schools.
- Zero tolerance for cyberbullying.
- Expansion of working-life-oriented education.
- Increased structured extracurricular activities.
3. Children and Youth
- Safe and supervised youth facilities after school.
- Parental responsibility remains primary — it cannot be transferred to schools.
4. Energy
- Responsible ownership steering of Keravan Energia Oy.
- Continuous improvement of municipal building energy efficiency.
- Expansion of EV charging infrastructure.
- Solar energy installations in municipal properties.
- Ongoing lighting modernization and energy optimization.
5. Mobility
- Safe roads and pedestrian networks.
- Improved lighting and energy efficiency.
- 30 km/h zones in urban areas, especially near schools.
- Continued development of light-traffic routes.
- Adequate parking infrastructure.
- Careful evaluation of potential rail passenger traffic.
6. Municipal economy
- Strict expenditure discipline.
- Responsible use of taxpayer funds.
- Firm NO to tax increases.
- Managed population growth (approx. 250–500 residents per year).
7. Zoning
- Sufficient supply of single-family housing plots.
- Growth center development near existing infrastructure.
- Protection of property rights.
- Negotiation over expropriation.
8. Construction
- Faster and more efficient building permit processes.
- Maximum 30-day processing target.
- Supportive rather than bureaucratic oversight.
9. Entrepreneurship
- Adequate plots for SMEs.
- Open negotiation channels for larger investors.
- Entrepreneur-friendly decision-making.
- Fair and transparent procurement.
- Support for agriculture and local production.
10. Villages
- Strengthening vitality of Sipoo’s villages.
- Finalizing zoning processes.
- Business plots near village centers.
11. Coast and archipelago
- Continued development of the coastline and archipelago.
- Marina development initiatives.
12. Support for vulnerable groups
- Safeguarding the rights of disabled, elderly and vulnerable residents.
- Improved accessibility.
13. Veteran heritage
- Honoring and preserving the legacy of war veterans and veterans’ organizations.
14. Sports and recreation
- Development of sports and recreation facilities.
- Advancement of a municipal swimming hall project.
- Maintenance of parks, trails, winter facilities and dog parks.
SIPOO SWIMMING HALL
-
A key long-term vision is to strengthen Sipoo’s tax base responsibly so that building a municipal swimming hall becomes financially feasible. A swimming hall is essential for public health. Swimming prevents cardiovascular diseases, strengthens muscles, improves lung capacity, and supports mental health. It serves all age groups year-round. Not everything can be measured in money — public health is the most important investment. To make such investments possible, we need responsible population growth and sustainable tax revenue.
15. Language policy
-
Sipoo is a bilingual municipality. Services must be available in both national languages — thank you and tack!
16. Environment and nature
-
Sipoo’s diverse and valuable nature must be protected. Example: the Bruböle dam bypass project, improving fish migration and flood protection.
17. Municipal property management
- Long-term maintenance planning (5–10 years).
- Strategic divestment of unnecessary properties.
- Professional property valuation practices.
- Reasonably priced rental housing for municipal employees.
Sustainable decision-making
All decisions must be made on a sustainable foundation — respecting the environment, the valuable nature of Eastern Uusimaa’s Sipoo, and listening to residents.
